Ice climbing world Cup

Description :
1st French Ice-climbing Championship to respond to the ice movement which grows up since 1995 after the organization a 1st word championship and then the progress of an event of a word cup in 2001 in France.D.T.S. association (Dry Tool Styl), FFME (French Federationof Mountain and Climbing) and the tourist office of Champagny-en-Vanoise go into partnership to organize the 1st french ice-climbing championship.
Ice-climbing associates the alpinism technics and the ones of sport climbing to offer a great and uncommon exhibition.
The event is qualified as "a difficulty". It takes place on the ice tower. The competitors will climb as high as possible on a wall of ice more and more difficult. The aim is to get to the top. The climber discovers the handholds and the itinerary during his progression. He has between 6 to 12 minutes to climb. Someone belay the climber at the foot of the wall. The ranking is determined according to the hight.
